This Municipality was constituted during the year, 1961 as a NAC. Subsequently it was converted to Municipality vide H & UD Department letter No. 5287/HUD dated 12.02.1993. The total area of this Municipality is 26.40 sq.Kms. Altogether 06 revenue villages are coming under this Municipality. There are 14 wards in this Municipality. The total population of the Municipality is 46,681 out of which 23946 are male and 22734 are female & other 1 as per 2011 Census
This Municipality is bounded by the following boundaries:
East: Boundary of Village: Daduan & Mutuda.
West: Village Boundary of Roida & Kalaha Roida.
South: Village Jalahari, Bambari (Junge on either side) Bhalabeda & River Baitrani.
North: Thakurani Forest (Kesra Forest beyond the Rimuli , Barbil N.H.215)
